About this scholarship

The Charles and Frank Fenner Research Scholarship in Geographical and Environmental Studies is funded from a bequest from Emeritus Professor Frank Fenner, who graduated in medicine at the University of Adelaide in 1983. Emeritus Professor Frank Fenner CMG MBE AC is credited with overseeing the eradication of smallpox and controlling Australia’s rabbit plague through the introduction of myxomatosis. Professor Frank Fenner’s father, Charles Fenner, was also associated with the University, being integral in establishing geography studies at the University. The scholarship supports a full-time PhD or MPhil student with research costs, including but not limited to travel, equipment, data, or data collection. The successful applicant will receive a lump sum payment of up to $7,500 to support their research.
