About this scholarship
Established in 1957, the award is funded from the estates of Henry Bertie Gritton and his wife Florence Mabel Gritton to promote the knowledge and study of chemistry in relation to industry and agriculture, including chemistry connected with electrical engineering, metallurgical chemistry and chemistry in its application to mining and the winning and treatment of minerals and natural products of the soil. a. Established in 1957, the Gritton Medallist Award is funded from the estates of Henry Bertie Gritton and his wife Florence Mabel Gritton to promote the knowledge and study of chemistry in relation to industry and agriculture, including chemistry connected with electrical engineering, metallurgical chemistry and chemistry in its application to mining and the winning and treatment of minerals and natural products of the soil. a. Applicant must be University of Sydney Medallists and currently enrolled full-time in a PhD at the University of Sydney. b. Applicants must be undertaking research in the area of Chemistry. c. Applicants must be either citizens of a Commonwealth country or a permanent resident of Australia. a. The successful applicant will be awarded on the basis of: I. academic merit, II. a 700 character research outline related to the purpose of the Henry Bertie and Florence Mabel Gritton bequest, III. curriculum vitae, and IV. feedback from two academic referees a. This Award has a value of $3,000 and will be paid as a one-off payment. b. No other amount is payable. c. The Award will be offered subject to the availability of funds. a. None apply. a. The University reserves the right to withdraw the Award, if the University determines that the student is guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information to secure this Award. b. Once withdrawn the Award will not be reinstated.
