About this scholarship
This prize recognises academic excellence in the Master of Teaching (Secondary). The Hugh Childers Memorial Prize was established in 1924 by Charles E. E. Childers and Mrs Stephen L. Simeon in memory of the Rt. Hon. Hugh Culling Eardley Childers, Vice Chancellor of the University. Childers had much to do with founding the University of Melbourne and became the university's first Vice-Chancellor in 1853. He served until he left for England in 1857, continuing to assist the University in many ways after his departure.
