About this scholarship

This scholarship has been established to support high-performing Honours students undertaking experimental research on hydrophobins or hydrophobin proteins during summer 2025-2026 at the University of Sydney, under the supervision of Associate Professor Ann Kwan. 1. Background a. This scholarship has been established to support high-performing Honours students undertaking experimental research on hydrophobins or hydrophobin proteins during summer 2025-2026 at the University of Sydney, under the supervision of Associate Professor Ann Kwan. 2. Eligibility a. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a full-time Bachelor of Science Honours degree within the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney. 3. Selection Criteria a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of: I. academic merit (transcripts), II. experience in the wet or wet and dry lab. b. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate the previous wet and dry lab experience under a research environment. c. The Scholarship will be awarded by the relevant research supervisor of the School of Life and Environmental Sciences at the University of Sydney. 4. Value a. The Scholarship is valued up to $5,000 and payable as one-off payment upon receipt of the scholarship acceptance form. b. Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted and it is not transferable to another area of research, University school, faculty or university. c. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds. d. No other amount is payable. 5. Termination a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient: I. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol, II. withdraws or transfers from the research project without prior approval, III. commences part time studies without prior approval, IV. does not maintain satisfactory research performance, V. does not conduct research according to the agreed schedule, VI. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application, VII. does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave. b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error. c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
