Funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council, this Scholarship was established in 2026 to provide financial support to a student who will undertake an honours research full time in 2026. The focus area of the research will be thermal and environmental physiology. 1. Background a. This Scholarship was established in 2026 to provide financial support to a student who will undertake an honours research full time in 2026. The focus area of the research will be thermal and environmental physiology. b. This Scholarship is funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council. 2. Eligibility a. The Scholarship is offered subject to the applicant having an unconditional offer of admission or being currently enrolled in Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) degree with the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney. b. Applicants must be an Australian Citizen. c. Applicants must be employed as a nurse at time of application within Australia. d. Applicants must be full time in Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) degree with submission of a thesis 3. Selection Criteria a. This scholarship will be awarded based on: I. academic merit, II. research proposal. b. The successful applicant will be awarded the Scholarship on the nomination by Dr Georgia Chaseling. 4. Value a. The recipient will receive the scholarship valued at $5,000.00 per annum for one year. b. The Scholarship annual value will be paid in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester. c. The Scholarship value and duration will be stipulated in the Scholarship Offer Letter to the successful recipient. d. The scholarship funds can be used to assist with fees, books, travel related expenses and other costs related to the course of study. e. Deferral and/or suspension of the Scholarship is not permitted. f. The scholarship cannot be transferred to another University school, faculty or university. g. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds. h. No other amount is payable. 5. Ongoing eligibility a. To continue receipt of the Scholarship: achieved a Satisfied Requirements grade (SR) to receive their next payment. 6. Termination a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient: I. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol, II. changes their research topic that is no longer aligned with the NHMRC Investigator Grant, III. undertakes a leave of absence without prior approval from the Head of School and Dean, The University of Sydney Susan Wakil School of Nursing and Midwifery, IV. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance, V. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application, or VI. does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave. b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error. c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
